Ten of Wands

Ten of Wands Quote

"Everyone has his burden, what counts is how you wear it."
~Joe & David Brown

Gilded Tarot - Ten of Wands

Meaning upright

Giving everything you have, burn-out, overwrought, heavy physical activity, busy, seeing your goal very far away, persevere to the end, day hike, setbacks that seem to large, being underpaid, difficult task, bragging about how much you can bear, oppression, the strongest man of the World, effort, overwhelmed, the need to finish a number of projects, conditions which are not fulfilled, problem focused instead of on solutions, reactive, overweight, hard to say no, obsessions, a strict upbringing that is still bothering you, do something against your will.

Meaning reversed

Weight is falling off your shoulders, you have opportunities to solve your problems, problems behind you, focused exclusively on what you want, sudden movement forward. May also stand for a lack of confidence, weakness, anxiety, party animal behavior that continues too long. Give up what your doing now.

Ten of the Wands in your reading

On this card we often see someone hunched over carrying a load of wands. Ten of those things is a difficult load and I´ve always asked myself why he didn´t make it easier for himself by binding them together. That way he would only have one load to carry instead of ten. Am I the only one who thinks that he´s making things hard for himself? At the end of the trip a nice meal and a warm bed is waiting for him. It is good to know that when you're working so hard

Often the Ten of Wands is pulled when you work too hard or do unhealthy stuff to your body. You are exhausting yourself. If you go on like this you will get sick and that is probably not what you want.

Some people take on too much work because they cannot organize. Others simply can't say no. In the end it comes down on seeing what you have on your to-do list and deciding if you can handle more work. "Having to" is a bad argument of a leader to delegate work he himself doesn't have time for. A good leader makes sure that the workload of his employees is in balance. Of course it can happen that it is just busy for a while but there is no reason to overload people for a long time. Then you are just not a good leader. Should it be so that the leader is not working on changing the situation then there is no other decision possible for you: look for another job. It says nothing about you (that you are a quiter or a loser) but all about your leader.

The Ten of Wands shows that it can be difficult for a while. The trip will go uphill for a while and each step may feel harder. Fague will be your part. Especially then it is important to take good care of yourself. Take as much rest as possible and eat well. Make time to work out or take a walk. An person can handle more if their body is healthy and souple. But remember... you are not the only one who needs to get to work. Others can help you. Ask for it.
