The Hermit (9)

Affirmation

The Hermit tells you: "I recognize the feeling of centeredness."

Upright

Searching for your truth, trying to find a solution to your problems by thinking things over, ending your project, turning inwards, loneliness, end of a difficult period, listening to your inner voice, taking careful steps forward, seeing your babysteps.

Reversed

A lonely period, the need to take inventory of your life, not following advice, not being able to relax, thinking in the dark of the night, breath in breath out and decide on a new goal.

Radian Rider Waite - Hermit

In your reading

Some people may call it the dark night of the soul. The nights in which you lay awake thinking about your life, about yourself and what to do next. You are not able to look ahead very far so you don't know if the path you've chosen is the right one. Some people may see that as a challenge and some as a problem. It all depends on how you see the guy on this card looking for a steady path.

If there is one thing you don't want to meet is walking in the mountains, when it is cold and dark and all you have is a small lantern and a stick. It's not a lot to have when you are all alone. But then... it is the only way to connect to your soul. With all the distraction we have these days it is easy not to bother about the question who you are and what you stand for. Let alone what you want. Some questions are just too hard to answer.

But if you pull The Hermit then it is time for some deep thinking. Is there a situation that needs a solution? Is there a question that needs an answer? Are you going in the right direction with what you're doing? Think about it. You don't have to have an answer right away. Sometimes it is good not to have an answer for a while. Even though that can make you feel insecure there is nothing bad about it.

Not knowing is also a whole new freedom. Depending on whether you really decide you want to solve this mystery you either let go of the situation or you strive to find an answer. Sometimes meditation can help with finding your path and direction.
