Emperor

Affirmation

The Emperor tells you: "I know what I want and make it happen."

Radiant Rider Waite - The Emperor (4)

Upright

Law and order, being an authority (by knowledge), being an authoritarian (by role), a solid foundation, will power, to organize to make things happen, creating preconditions, seeing a challenge in a problem or situation, father figure (and it's influence on who you are now)

Reversed

Struggling in your role as a leader, fighting for power, searching for a way through bureaucracy, a cold and calculating person, scheming

In your reading

This archetypical father earns the money to take care of us and protects us against the bad outside world. It is the side of our personality that takes care of the boring chores: work, money, paying bills and filling out your tax papers. He's the one who sets rules but also keeps to them. Without that order in life he becomes confused and starts to struggle in his role as a leader.

The Emperor forms a couple with the Empress. Where she takes care of the soft and fuzzy side of life, this leader takes care of the rest. He makes it happen. He takes care of a solid foundation on which you can build your home and family. What he has to keep in mind that life is full of give and take. So as a leader he has to take but also provide in service and support. That is why his throne is so square and solid.

The role of you father in your life is important. The way he played it now shows how you handle authority figures in life. If we haven't balanced the father figure in ourselves we will find it difficult to handle people who are "above" us. Either we do not accept anything from a boss (or an officer or whatever) or we shrink into a little ball when someone yells at us. By developing your own leadership you will become your own father figure the way you want it to be. Leadership is all about being a good father to yourself.

This figure tells you that if you want to create something in your life that you've got to have a plan. He always makes one and follows it religiously. He often evaluates his position and changes his actions if he's not going in the right direction. He's a true Deming man: Plan - Do - Check - Act!
