Eight of Cups
The Eight of Cups quote
"Good-bye. I am leaving because I am bored.”
~George Saunders (last words)
Meaning upright
Avoiding, not wanting to look at your problems, problems of others you’re closing your eyes for, not wanting to get upset over the influence that others have on you, “I don’t care about you”, feeling better than others, leaving as soon as problems come up, thinking that you’re great, dissatisfaction, annoying, to be fed up in spite of that you got what you wanted, staying in a situation while you should be leaving, unfulfilled expectations, departure, sayonara!, going on a trip that will be an emotional burden, leaving your relationship behind.
Meaning reversed
Leaving your security behind, learning to feel what you’re really feeling, daring to feel what you feel, leaving the past behind, ready to go on a trip, the end to nonchalance, sharing feelings with others.

The Eight of Cups in your reading
This is the card that often arrives when you want to leave the whole situation behind you. A lot has to happen to come this far that you are willing to let go of everything to start over somewhere else again. A lot of feelings will arise when that happens. But this card also shows that you don’t see things clearly. That’s because of the Moon that is often in this card. The light of the moon doesn’t give you the chance to see the problem as it really is. This causes you to focus more on what you feel yourself instead of that you see what is going on and what needs to be done. Only your own feelings count now and what the other is feeling doesn’t really matter. The advice is to see things as they really are and what the possibilities are to improve them.
But this card can also come up when you should have been leaving already and that the time has now come to really go. Maybe you have overstayed.
How do you know which fits your situation? Look at the figure in the card. Look at how he walks and how that comes across for you. How much is he suffering? Is he suffering at all? The more the figure leans forward the harder the situation. Is he standing straight up? Then maybe you should give it one more try. But a serious one this time.
The amount of water in this card shows that a lot of feelings are going around. Give yourself the luxury to cry when you’re sad. Only water can help those feelings to leave you. When tears are no option for you then try to drink more water to help your body to release them. This may sound strange but mind and body are one and emotions can get stuck in your body. They need water to be released.
